Naturally Lamitic support provides a broad spectrum of herbs to nutritionally support horses prone to laminitis and/ or insulin resistance. The herbs present help cleanse and detox the system as well as help balance the endocrine system which in turn aids the normalisation of insulin levels in the body. Peppermint and hawthorn berries provide a much needed boost to the circulatory system. Last but not least this mix includes herbs to maintain an efficient urinary system and to expedite healthy tissue re-growth.

Comfrey leaves are the normal part of the plant to be fed and the chief healing element in comfrey is an allantoin, a cell proliferant which promotes the granulation and formation of epithelial cells. Comfrey is also known as knitbone and, being a demulcent herb, is excellent for internal and external healing. Comfrey supports the healing of bone, cartlidge and soft connective tissues. It is also excellent for bruising (cut out rest as not relevant to laminitis).

It is also known for its antispasmodic, diuretic, nerve calming and cholesterol lowering properties. Nettles are the richest source of chlorophyll as well as being rich in minerals such as iron, lime, potassium, sodium, sulphur and protein. They are a great source of vitamin C and therefore useful for supporting the body where anaemia has been diagnosed. They support the healthy functioning of the kidneys, essential for eliminating toxins and supporting laminitics.
Peppermint is frequently selected by horses and is the most pungent of all mints. Many owners believe this interest is due to the association with mint-flavoured sweets, however this is far from the truth. Peppermint has many therapeutic attributes but the main benefit of peppermint is as a digestive aid and as a stimulant.
Stimulant herbs quicken, excite and increase the nervous system activity within the body and therefore stimulate energy within the body. More importantly, however, stimulants such as peppermint increase the pulse rate and flow of blood to all parts of the body, thereby improving circulation to the extremities.
